At Beachside High we care about how music feels just as much as how it sounds. That is why we tune our instruments a little differently than most bands. Instead of using the standard 440 Hz we play everything at 432 Hz.
It might not look like much of a change on paper but when you hear it and more importantly when you feel it there is a difference. The grooves are smoother the chords feel rounder and the whole vibe is easier on the ears.
Why we do it
When we started playing around with 432 Hz we noticed it right away.

In the studio and on stage
Every guitar bass synth and horn we use is tuned to 432 Hz. In the studio we retune samples and synth patches so everything sits in the same space. Live we lock our tuners so the vibe you get in the room is the same as in your headphones.
Sometimes we open a show with a short instrumental at 432 Hz just to let the crowd settle into it before we launch into the first chorus. You can feel the shift in the room.
